Advanced alginate dressing for cavity filling

This soft, conformable alginate dressing is designed for easy cavity filling and effective management of moderate to heavily exuding wounds. Its flexible structure can be cut and shaped to fit wounds of varying sizes, shapes and depths, ensuring close contact with the wound bed to support the natural healing process.

High dressing integrity for atraumatic removal

The dressing offers high integrity even when saturated, allowing for simple, one-piece removal with minimal pain and trauma to the wound and surrounding skin. This helps reduce disruption to newly formed tissue during dressing changes.

Superior absorption with minimized risk of leakage and maceration

With superior absorption and a cohesive gel-forming action, the dressing locks exudate inside the dressing matrix. This helps prevent leakage and protects the periwound skin, reducing the risk of maceration and skin breakdown while maintaining a moist wound environment.

Documented hemostatic effect

Unlike many hydrofibre dressings, this alginate dressing has a documented hemostatic effect. By releasing calcium ions, it can help arrest minor bleeding in superficial wounds, making it suitable where light bleeding control is desired.

Mode of action

On contact with wound exudate, the dressing transforms into a soft, cohesive gel that conforms closely to the wound surface. This moist wound healing environment supports granulation and epithelialization while accommodating varying exudate levels.

Composition

The dressing is composed of 85% alginate and 15% carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), combining strong gelling capacity with structural stability for secure handling and removal.

Indications and usage

Suitable for moderate to heavily exuding partial- and full-thickness wounds, including pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, arterial ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites and traumatic wounds. It may assist in the control of minor bleeding in superficial wounds and can be used under compression therapy.

The dressing should not be used on dry or lightly exuding wounds, nor as the primary method to control heavy bleeding.
