Mepilex Transfer

Experience gentle, effective exudate management with this highly conformable transfer dressing designed to maintain a moist wound environment while helping minimise the risk of maceration. Featuring the Safetac® soft silicone wound contact layer — a unique adhesive technology — it reduces pain at removal and limits trauma to the wound and surrounding skin. The thin, flexible polyurethane foam pad efficiently transfers exudate to an appropriate secondary dressing, supporting comfort and protection for compromised or fragile skin.

How the product works

This dressing can be used by laypersons under the supervision of health care professionals.

1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with clinical practice.
2. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
3. Select an appropriate dressing size so it overlaps dry skin around the wound (1–2 cm for smaller areas; 3–5 cm for larger areas). If needed, cut to fit wound shape and location.
4. Remove the first release film and apply the adherent side to the wound.
5. Remove the remaining release film and smooth down the dressing. Do not stretch.
6. Apply an appropriate secondary dressing and fixation to maintain a moist environment:
   • For moderately to highly exuding wounds: use a secondary absorbent dressing and fixate (e.g., hosiery or bandaging).
   • For non- to low-exuding wounds or skin protection: use a breathable film dressing or tubular fixation.

The change interval may be several days. Replace before saturation, at signs of leakage, or as per clinical practice. When using an absorbent secondary dressing, it may require more frequent changes than the transfer layer. Clean the surrounding skin and inspect the wound regularly. When used for protection, inspect the skin underneath on a regular basis. Compatible with compression bandaging and gels.

Precautions

• Do not use on patients with known hypersensitivity to the dressing or its materials.
• Do not use together with oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide.
• If you see signs of clinical infection (e.g., fever, redness, warmth, swelling), consult a health care professional for appropriate treatment.
• Single use only. Do not reuse; performance may deteriorate and cross-contamination may occur.
• Sterile. Do not use if the sterile barrier is damaged or opened prior to use. Do not re-sterilise.
